WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: ‘Apples Never Fall’, streaming on Peacock, has intrigued the audience with its gripping storyline centered on the enigmatic disappearance of Joy Delaney (Annette Bening).

Her four adult children – Amy, Troy, Brooke, and Logan – come together to uncover the truth behind their mother’s disappearance, suspecting their own father’s involvement.
With cops unable to identify any suspects, suspicions point heavily towards Stan Delaney (Sam Neill), the last person to have seen his wife.

While initially not the prime suspect for law enforcement, Stan’s children become convinced of his guilt in Joy’s murder.
Troy Delaney (Jake Lacy), deeply resentful towards his father due to past physical abuse during his teenage years and a perceived lack of affection, firmly believes that Stan killed Joy in a moment of rage.

His suspicions are fueled by a recent altercation where Joy confessed to sabotaging Stan’s career by orchestrating his dismissal as Harry Haddad’s (Giles Matthey) coach, all for the supposed benefit of their family.
As the investigation progresses, Troy articulates his reasons for suspecting Stan, highlighting the heated argument that occurred weeks before Joy’s disappearance.
Logan Delaney (Conor Merrigan Turner) also becomes convinced of Stan’s culpability after uncovering CCTV footage from one of his boats. The footage depicts Stan transporting a bulky object, potentially Joy’s body wrapped in a plastic bag, and disposing of it in the ocean.
Although these pieces of evidence are circumstantial, the investigation takes a significant turn when law enforcement discovers a podcast recording inadvertently capturing the couple’s argument shortly before Joy went missing.
The recording not only captures their heated exchange but also includes disturbing sounds hinting at a violent confrontation between the two, further casting suspicion on Stan.

As the series progresses, with each episode, viewers are introduced to the complexities of Stan and Joy’s picture-perfect marriage.
It is revealed that Joy once cheated on Stan. However, he didn’t leave her but instead waited for her to come around.
Joy’s unhappiness in her marriage becomes evident as it is revealed that she not only cheated on Stan but also actively sabotaged his career, allegedly for her benefit and that of their children.
She concealed the fact that she was the one who got him fired by Harry’s father and she let Stan hate their son Troy for it.
On the other hand, Stan tended to vanish for days whenever they argued, leaving Joy feeling fearful and isolated in his absence. It is also revealed that Joy visited a divorce lawyer a few days before she disappeared.
Stan Delaney didn’t kill his wife in ‘Apples Never Fall’
Although Stan is arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of his wife, he steadfastly maintains his innocence.
However, in a dramatic turn of events in the climax episode, it is discovered that Stan is, in fact, innocent. This revelation comes to light when Joy reappears at home.
The truth emerges that Stan played no part in harming Joy; rather, she deliberately disappeared due to feeling overlooked and unloved within her own family.
