The Country music star Billy Ray Cyrus has officially filed for divorce from his wife of seven months, Firerose, marking a swift and surprising end to their whirlwind romance. The couple, who wed in the fall of last year, quickly became the subject of social media buzz due to their significant age gap—Firerose is the same age as some of Cyrus’s children.

While age-gap relationships have become more accepted in modern times, this one has proven to be short-lived. TMZ has obtained documents revealing that Cyrus has not only filed for divorce but also requested an annulment, alleging that the marriage was “obtained by fraud.” The couple’s official date of separation is listed as May 22, 2024. Cyrus has given Firerose a deadline of May 24 to vacate their home, offering her a $500-per-night stipend for ten days to cover temporary housing costs.

Cyrus cited irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the grounds for the divorce. Given that the pair have no children together and have accumulated limited assets during their brief marriage, the process is expected to be relatively quick and straightforward.

The divorce filing stands in stark contrast to Firerose’s recent Instagram post celebrating their six-month anniversary. “6 months ago, I married this man. Life isn’t always easy… but it sure helps when your husband’s also your best friend,” she wrote, suggesting that the marriage might not have been as blissful as it appeared.

Notably, both Cyrus and Firerose have unfollowed each other on social media. Cyrus’s posts in recent weeks have noticeably shifted away from their relationship, focusing instead on promoting his new music and reminiscing about past career highlights.
