RUSSELLVILLE, ARKANSAS: ‘American Idol’ Season 22 contestant Avery Gunn is a singer, songwriter and actor. He would audition in week 3 of the ABC show and fans could hope the aspiring singer to clinch the golden ticket to Hollywood.
Originally from Russellville, Arkansas, Avery has currently made his home in St Florian, where he shares residence with friends from Arx Mortis. Avery is an alumnus of Russellville High School and pursued higher education at Northwest Shoals Community College, where he honed his singing skills.

Before delving into his passion for singing, Avery graced the stage in theater productions, earning recognition as a well-known artist in his town. He has documented his singing and acting journey on his social media.
Avery kicked off his theatre career with, ‘Shrek the Musical, ‘Frozen’ and “Guys and Dolls.’ He has also performed in the Shoals area, ‘The Drowsy Chaperone,’ Side By Side’ and ‘Into the Woods.’ Avery has received the Stanley Award for his performance in ‘Tuck Everlasting.’
The ABC show contestant also bagged the opportunity to perform at Arx Mortis in Killen. Besides acting and singing, Avery also plays a piano and acoustic guitar.
He has appeared as a guest singer for the Kerry Gilbert Band thrice and also performed with them. The self-proclaimed vocalist and instrumentalist recently dropped his new song, ‘If I Can Dream Cover’.

Avery Gunn ditches welding job to perform in theatre

The ABC show contestant Avery Guinn had doubts about his artistic career and was already ready to pursue his backup jobs. He had a welding job and also gave a shot at desk work, only to come to the realization that he belonged to the stage.
In a recent interview with Franklin County Times, Avery reflected on his backup career options and noted, “I worked on some backups, just in case, including welding jobs, working behind a desk and working in a warehouse.”
The ‘American Idol’ Season 22 contestant explained to the outlet, “Doing the exact same thing every day with no creative outlet felt very dismal to me, and so I decided to start doing performances around the Shoals area, the first of which wound up being playing Beast in ‘Beauty and the Beast.'”
He also revealed that his 6-foot-2 height, long hair and bass voice often land him the negative character but ‘being a villain’ has been something he enjoy the most.
Avery also claimed that “playing a villain or a comedic relief character, you have set rules inside the character for how they might act and what they might say, but with characters like that, you’re really able to let loose and make it your own, and I really enjoy that. I find myself enjoying even serious character roles.”
Avery Gunn reflects on ‘uncertainties’ in his life
‘American Idol’ Season 22 contestant Avery Gunn appeared to face multiple uncertainties in his life since childhood. In an Instagram post, Avery reflected and claimed that he had grown up in a world of uncertainty. He was not sure about the present, future and himself.
He claimed that he didn’t know “where to fit in, how to fit in, or even if he could.” However, after his graduation, he realized that “life is full of ‘one shot’ opportunities, and he was wanting to take them all on.” Soon her realized his passion for performing on the stage and continued to improve his skills.
