“I was raised in the village” – Dave Umahi disrespected Laila Johnson-Salami of Arise News as he gaslighted her question about EIA on Calabar-Lagos coastal highway project.
Engr. Dave Umahi, has been berated for allegedly downplaying the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) aspect of the multi-billion Naira Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.
Responding to this, Laila told the minister that it’s the way she speaks. When Umahi asked for interpreters, Laila pushed back by saying that he had enough people around him to make him understand what she was saying.
Shortly after the exchange, Umahi responded to Laila’s question by saying they got all the necessary approval to initiate the project.
At a media briefing by the Minister of Works, a television reporter, Laila Johnson-Salami of Arise News Channel had posed a question to Umahi about the EIA on the much-talked-about Lagos-Calabar Highway Project but a drama ensued before she was able to ask the question as the Minister jocularly picked on her because of her accent.
