Netflix picked up the series for its third season and also secured the non-exclusive rights to Seasons 1 and 2 of the Universal TV series.

Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps, and Paula Pell, all series regulars, headline as the members of a ’90s one-hit wonder girl group in the comedy series ‘Girls5eva.’

Despite their star having dimmed for decades, Season 3 sees these women making a triumphant return.

The quartet has recorded a new album, titled ‘Returnity’, and is gearing up to hit the road for a comeback tour.

What happened in ‘Girls5eva’ Season 2?

In the season’s opening, Dawn (Sara Bareilles), Wickie (Renée Elise Goldsberry), Gloria (Paula Pell), and Summer (Busy Philipps) of ‘Girls5Eva’ secure a record deal with Property Records, owned by a duo of identical twins.

They’re tasked with writing and recording an album in just six weeks to coincide with the release of the twins’ scented hammers, set to be sold as concert merchandise.

However, in an unexpected turn in the season finale, ‘Girls5eva’ receives disappointing news. Despite their record deal, the label doesn’t choose them to open for the popular group Collab on tour.

The finale concludes with ‘Girls5eva’ deciding to independently fund their own tour, spurred by the virality of one of their songs.

Amid the challenges, Drew apologizes to the group, expressing gratitude to Gloria for the ordeal, admitting, “It’s the only time I feel anything anymore.”

What is the plot of ‘Girls5eva’ Season 3?

In Season 3, ‘Girls5eva’ boldly declares their readiness for “the biggest comeback in pop music history. The story unfolds as they embark on a comeback tour post the release of their album, ‘Returnity’.

Building on Season 2’s groundwork, potential storylines include Dawn’s (Sara Bareilles) pregnancy and Gloria’s (Gloria McManus) relationship concerns.

The other storylines include Wickie’s (Renée Elise Goldsberry) new romance, and Summer’s (Busy Philipps) anxieties about co-parenting with her ex-husband, Kevin (Andrew Rannells).

Each band member grapples with personal challenges, leaving Season 3 to unveil whether they can conquer these obstacles during their much-anticipated comeback tour.

The official synopsis reads, “With no plan, tour manager, or venues secured, the ladies pile into a van and hit the great unknown, doing their damnedest to promote their album and get back on top.”

The synopsis further reads, “In the process, Girls5eva will grapple with life on the road, see their relationships tested, play a billionaire’s birthday party, sow their oats, confront parents they believe held them back, cross paths with the biggest pop star on the planet, and question if they really want ‘the big time’ again.”

Adding, “Will Girls5eva fast-track their comeback and sell their tour documentary in the process? Or will the road destroy them?”
