LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 96th Academy Awards has returned to give the top movies and the best actors and artistes a round of applause for their incredible work. Christopher Nolan’s film ‘Oppenheimer’ led the nominations with 13 nods. Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr. all earned acting nominations. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 2024 Oscars for the second year in a row.
However, the biggest award ceremony night was filled with glitz and glamour, as well as some disastrous and unstylish celebrities. The Oscars red carpet has historically been a venue for couture, ops moments and fashion disasters which have remained with fans for years. Dwayne Johnson, Billie Eilish and multiple stars missed the mark with their ensemble for the evening this year.

Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish returned to the 2024 Oscars red carpet with Best Original Song nod for Barbie’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ but with a very unconventional look. The songstress donned a custom Chanel look with a schoolgirl aesthetic. Eilish’s outfit featured a white top, a black blazer, and a plaided knee-length skirt pencil skirt. She styled her long dark hair down and straight.

She completed her look with a stylish blowout and a nude lip. Eilish accessorized her outfit with a black-and-white checkered Chanel handbag. The singer’s white socks and Mary Jane shoes failed to add glamour to her rather bizarre look.
Zendaya

Zendaya is known for wowing fans with her stunning looks. Sadly, the actress’s 2024 Oscars ensemble lacked elegance. She opted for a pink Armani Privé column dress. Zendaya’s dress featured glittery black palm trees. She styled her hair down in soft waves. The ‘Dune’ star’s silk gown featured a metallic single-roped strap strung over a glittery black corset.
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande arrived at the 96th Academy Awards red carpet in a voluminous Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown. She dished her ‘Wicked’ character, Glinda, vibe. Grande looked like a giant pink bubble in her voluminous gown. She wore her blond hair in a curly updo. The actress completed her look with matching pink heels and bubblegum shade jewelry.
Lily Gladstone
Lily Gladstone opted for a strapless midnight-blue velvet gown by Gucci which was not dazzling or appropriate for the biggest award ceremony night. The actress’s dress was attached with a cape train, which featured a white flowerlike pattern embroidered all over. Gladstone completed the look with matching flower-shaped earrings and a beaded necklace.
Dwayne Johnson
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson donned a ballet-pink Dolce & Gabbana suit jacket. He also wore a flower on his lapel to honor his daughters, Simone Johnson, Jasmine Johnson, and Tiana Johnson. Although Johnson ditched the overdone classic tux, the silky material of his jacket looked a bit odd.
Andrea Riseborough
Andrea Riseborough definitely failed to make a fashion statement in a long-sleeved tartan print dress. The bright red, white and grey ensemble was simply a fashion disaster with a tartan dress flowing down into a long floaty black skirt. She matched her makeup to the dress with a bold red lip and kept her brunette locks in a slicked-back bun. Riseborough completed her look with one huge silver earring.
Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh donned a beaded plunging gown featuring a structured strappy bustier covered in sparkling rhinestones. Pugh’s silk outfit also had beaded decorations below her waist, which gave the illusion of raindrops. The extra glitz messed up her chance to land in the best-dressed category. Additionally, the actress’ snake-shaped diamond choker was another fashion mishap.
Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence opted for an old-school black and white polka dot dress by Dior Haute Couture. She parted her hair to the side and styled it down. The actress’s outfit also featured a corseted bodice, ample skirt, and a matching shawl, which she rested on her shoulders.
