‘Robbed of Best Supporting Actress’: ‘Barbie’ actress America Ferrera loss at ‘Oscars’ 2024 leaves fans in rage

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: America Ferrera was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category at Oscars 2024, but the ‘Barbie’ actress did not win the award. The Best Supporting Actress was instead won by Da’Vine Joy Randolph for ‘The Holdovers.’

Fans believe America’s role in ‘Barbie’ was worth getting an award. Seeing her not get the deserving award made fans flood the internet claiming, “America Ferrera should’ve won.’

A fan tweeted, “I really wish America would’ve won for Best Supporting Actress. Her monologue was incredible in Barbie!” Another wrote, “America Ferrera trying to cope with her loss She won in my heart.” 

Another explained, “so many talented actresses in Best Supporting tonight, but i would love it if America Ferrera won for Barbie been a fan of her work, ever since #realwomenhavecurves with the legend that is Lupe Ontiveros.” 

An angry fan stated, “i starting watching late but how tf did america not win supporting actress, this s**t rigged.” “AMERICA FERRERA YOU WERE ROBBED BABY,” claimed another. “America Ferrera was robbed of the Best Supporting Actress Oscar!” one tweeted.

‘I’m proud of myself’: America Ferrera reflects on her nomination at ‘Oscars’ 2024

As America walked on the red carpet she was asked how she felt about her nomination for ‘Barbie.” America replied, “I have a lot to smile about, I’m so happy to be here.” 

She believes Oscars night was a celebration for her. Finding herself the luckiest person in the world, America said, “I found a way to live my dream and I have a career doing what I dreamt of doing as a child.” She added, “I’m proud of myself. I’m proud that I have persevered and stayed in it and now today is a childhood dream come true.”

Has America Ferrera won an Oscar before?

No, America hasn’t won any Oscar before and this was the first time she was nominated for any. But she previously won the Best Actress award for ‘Ugly Betty’ at Golden Globe Awards in 2007. She was also nominated for the same in 2008 and 2009.

America has won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Ugly Betty.’ She has also won an Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series at Screen Actors Guild Awards.

America also has an ALMA Award, Critics’ Choice Movie Award, Imagen Award, NAACP Image Award, People’s Choice Award, Satellite Award, Teen Choice Award, Voice Arts Award, and Young Artist Award.
