Working on the show was restricting her from personal mining and business goals, and she felt it was time to part ways. Johanson emphasized her focus on personal adventures and thanked everyone for the love and support she received.
How did Kayla Johnson win over a crew of all men for ‘Gold Rush: White Water’?
Kayla Johanson, with over a decade of experience, brought a wealth of knowledge to the crew. As the sole woman on the team, she faced the challenge of proving herself to her peers.
Initially met with skepticism and occasional clashes, particularly with colleagues like Scott Allen on the show. However, she persevered and despite a challenging start, Johanson showcased her impressive skills. Ultimately she became the first person to strike gold which impressed all her crew members.
In a conversation with Hollywood Soapbox, she shared, “I wasn’t sure if I was going to do it yet or not, mainly because I already had my own dredging operation going here. I usually work by myself, so I’m my own boss. I make my own schedule, and I don’t really have anyone telling me what to do. At most, I might work with [one] other person if I bring in some help, but for the most part, I work by myself. So I was kind of [on] the fence if I wanted to change that and leave that behind.”
