Portrayed by Jonathan Banks, the series introduces us to the seasoned NASA astronaut Henry Caldera, whose identity is further complicated by the introduction of Bud Caldera.

Who is Bud Caldera in ‘Constellation’?

Bud Caldera emerges as an alternate version of Henry Caldera. In his reality, Bud diverged from the path of becoming a scientist and instead embraced a career on the convention circuit where he spends his time signing autographs and participating in panels about his former role as an astronaut.
He is seen frequently defending his lunar achievements against conspiracy theories. In a previous episode, his frustration reaches a boiling point during a cruise when he hurls his professional rival overboard, responding to doubts about whether he had ever been to the moon.

While many details remain undisclosed, subtle hints suggest that Bud may have departed from his original dimension during his lunar mission, returning to the universe portrayed in ‘Constellation,’ akin to the experiences of Jo Ericsson.
How is Henry Caldera communicating with Bud Caldera in ‘Constellation’?
Episode 5 shows that Henry Caldera and Bud Caldera can communicate despite existing in parallel worlds. Their lives are intricately connected on a deeper level than initially perceived.
In a pivotal scene, Henry leaves a message on his mirror, which Bud receives in his alternate dimension. Convinced that Bud is meddling in his life, Henry demands to be left alone.
In another mind-boggling scene, Henry unintentionally wets his pants in front of Frederic Duverger while requesting the retrieval of the CAL device. The implication is that Bud, momentarily interfering in Henry’s life, orchestrated this incident.
Subsequently, they are seen talking through mirrors. These sequences align with the interference effect theory, challenging the conventional observer effect.
Henry’s claim gains clarity as he perceives the duality in the CAL device results, suggesting his unique ability to observe and communicate with alternate realities, akin to Jo Ericsson.
