Zara’s latest denim drop is furrowing more than some brows.
The intentionally wrinkled jeans are inspiring shoppers to “run away” from the retail giant, likening the crumpled fabric to a balled-up receipt in the bottom of their bag.
The head-scratching, mid-rise “Wrinkle Effect Jeans” retail for just under $70, but some perplexed shopaholics think the style needs some ironing out.
TikTokers have taken to the platform to express their confusion and dismay, while a rare few encouraged viewers to “run, don’t walk” to snag a pair.
“Don’t walk RUN away,” one person disagreed.
“It’s giving I fell in a lake,” quipped another.
“My mum would lose it and try iron them out,” someone else wrote, while another added, “I think they forgot to iron it.”
“The jeans I forgot I had when I find them at the bottom of my wardrobe,” joked one user.
“That one paper in my backpack,” one viewer commented.
“Some intern at Zara is trying to make this a trend so he doesn’t have to fold laundry ever again,” another said.
Meanwhile, other aghast viewers noted that the brand was slowly morphing into a Balenciaga lookalike.
The luxury fashion house is known for its questionable products — a $2,500 grocery sack, a $925 towel skirt, a $4,200 tote bag with a built-in glove — and, for these users, Zara’s crumpled denim is another head-scratching fashion faux pas.
Critics also claimed that the crinkled trousers make it “easy to boycott” the brand, which fell under fire for a recent campaign that featured mannequins wrapped in sheets that were compared to images of the deceased in Gaza.
Despite pulling the campaign — which was photographed in September — and publishing a statement affirming their “regrets” for the “misunderstanding,” former fans of the retailer vowed to boycott the brand.
